Kiambu County Women representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba has proclaimed her support for Deputy President William Ruto, jumping ship from Jubilee Party.

The vocal lawmaker has in the recent past been a staunch supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kieleweke faction of the ruling Jubilee Party.

However, it has been said that one day is a long time in politics and Wa Muchomba's has now declared her unwavering support for Deputy President William Ruto whom she met in a mid-morning meeting at the Ruto's Karen residence in Nairobi.

" I am aligning myself with the DP because that is where my people want me to be, " Wa Muchomba said about her move to the 'hustler' bandwagon.

Wa Muchomba has been a key backer of the Handshake and together with Kiambu Governor James Nyoro led the Jubilee campaign team in the Juja by-election which was held on May 18th 2021.

The jubilee candidate, Susan Waititu, lost to George Koimburi of Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) which is allied to Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.

The humiliating loss in a perceived Jubilee stronghold must have jarred Wa Muchomba who took to Facebook to concede defeat and also stated that she would 'take leave to reflect on the way forward".

Exactly a month and three days later, Gathoni Wa Muchomba has shifted her political loyalty to Deputy President William Ruto.
