Dennis Itumbi to Matiang'i: Anybody who conceives, initiates, coordinates and executes theft is a thief by all definitions. Waziri, Dr Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i, you are a thief

Renowned blogger Dennis Itumbi, who doubles up as a key ally and strategist for Deputy President William Ruto’s Hustler Nation has stood by his recent tweets branding Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Friend Matiang’i a “thief”.

Last week, Dr. Matiang’i through his lawyers accused Itumbi of posting defamatory tweets targeted towards him and demanded an unconditional apology, failure to which the CS vowed to seek legal redress.

In a series of tweets, Itumbi used the phrases “the Ruaraka land thief” and “the Ruaraka thief”, which CS Matiang’i interpreted to mean him. He gave Itumbi until Friday, August 13, 2021 to comply with the demand letter.

"Our client further demands an unconditional apology for the defamatory statements published via your verified Twitter account in a manner to be approved by our client.

"We are further instructed to demand as we hereby do your immediate admission of liability whereupon our client shall engage you on the quantum of damages and any other retribution for your defamatory publications,” the letter read in part.

Responding to the letter, Itumbi stood by his tweets, adding that his remarks are based on facts that he's acquired while investigation the Ruaraka Land case.

He argues that the CS erred in overseeing the Ruaraka land transaction, adding that the entire transaction was theft, therefore making the CS “a thief”.

"... In totality, therefore, the payment of Ksh 1,500,000,000 at your behest was outright theft under your supervision and leadership. You sold sand to the ocean for a pound of flesh.

“Anybody who conceives, initiates, coordinates and executes theft is a thief by all definitions. Waziri, Dr Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i, you are a thief. The context of “Ruaraka Land Thief” is therefore, laid and supported by court decision which you have not appealed against,” Itumbi’s letter read in part.
