Ex-Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has suffered a blow after his The Service Party (TSP) lost another senior official to UDA Party associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

TSP Director of political affairs and campaigns, John Methu on Friday announced his exit from the outfit and confirmed joining UDA.

While announcing his exit at a presser in Ol Kalou town, Methu, who is eyeing the Nyandarua Senatorial seat in 2022 noted that his decision was based on his constituents who urged h to jump ship.

"This decision has been informed by deep consultations with the people I seek to service as and profound soul searching…The future of a county and by extension of a country is premised on its investment on good leaders," Methu said as quoted by The Star.

Methu’s switch comes ten days after ex-TSP Deputy Secretary-General Njogu Barua resigned from the party and announced that he’ll be joining UDA.

"I have been the Deputy Secretary General of TSP. We have agreed and have resolved that with immediate effect, I cease being the Deputy Secretary General of The Service Party," he said.

Barua, a former member of parliament for Gichugu Constituency stated that he is determined to recapture his former seat on a UDA ticket.

The former legislator stated that his decision was informed by the will of the people of Gichugu who he said are keen to elect DP Ruto as Kenya's fifth Head of State.

"Their preferred presidential candidate is none other than William Samoei Arap Ruto," Barua said.
