A police officer attached to Masalani Police Station in Garissa County committed suicide after killing his girlfriend.

Reports indicate that the officer stabbed the girlfriend to death after a heated argument. 

Minutes after killing the girlfriend, the officer took his own life by detonating a hand grenade. 

Confirming the incident, Ijara sub-county Police Commander William Oyugi said that the officer had burns all over his body caused by shrapnel from the explosive.

"Chances were that the officer resorted to committing suicide out of desperation or regret after realizing that the lady had bled to death," Mr. Oyugi as quoted by Citizen.

At the same time, Detectives based in Gilgil, Nakuru County are pursuing a criminal gang operating across the county, that has been roughing up members of the public before bundling them in a white Toyota Noah, robbing them of valuables.

According to DCI, the dreaded knife-wielding gang of four men including the driver singles out specific targets at isolated areas, whom they frogmarch into their vehicle, tie up, and blindfold, before robbing them and dumping them a distance away.
