Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Tuesday ditched President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee for Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Explain her move, Waiguru said she arrived at the decision after consultations with the people of Kirinyaga.

"After extensive consultation with the Kirinyaga people, I have officially decamped to the hustler nation. 2022 Chama ni UDA, Form ni Hustler, Mpango ni BottomUp!" she said.

The Kirinyaga county boss thanked the leadership of the county for joining her the new journey with UDA.

She went on to say that they will walk as a team to be able to achieve development and growth for the people of Kirinyaga.

"Thank you, members of the Kirinyaga county assembly led by the Majority Leader, Hon. Murango, Speaker, Hon. Gathumbi, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joel and Chair Women Caucus Hon. Lilian for accompanying me on my journey to join the Hustler Nation," said Waiguru.

"As a team, we will walk United so as to achieve development and growth for our people through the bottom up economic model."

She also thanked Deputy President William Ruto and other UDA leaders for welcoming her to their camp.

"Thank you H.E Deputy President, Willam S. Ruto, Hon. Murkormen, Hon. Susan Kihika, Hon. Aisha Jumwa, Hon. Kimani Ichungwa, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua, Hon G. Kariuki and all the leaders for the warm welcome. #KaziniKazi," added Waiguru.

This comes a few days after the governor said she would soon announce which party she would vie with.

Waiguru had said that she was listen to what her people were saying, and whichever direction they told her to go, is the one she would follow.e

Her latest hint was during a recent interview where she claimed that the party to beat in Mt Kenya region is UDA.

"Where I come from, the Wanjikus are tending to be on the UDA side… So, on my political leanings right now, the ground is significantly UDA in Kirinyaga and in Central Kenya,” she said in an interview.
