An 18-year-old teenager from Mogotio, Nakuru country was on Monday arrested after shooting and killing his elder brother over an inheritance row.

Alex Kalemaa Kiptoi, is accused of killing his elder brother Joseph Kipsingor Kiptoi, 43, following a disagreement 40 beehives that their late father had left behind.

According to a statement by the DCI, Kiptoi was angered by his elder brother whom he accused of denying him his rightful share of his inheritance.

“Alex shot him with an arrow on his right thigh and left him to bleed to death. A sombre mood engulfed Kapndasum village in Koituimet sub location following the murder, as curious onlookers who couldn’t come to terms with Kipsingor’s death thronged the scene,” DCI said in a statement.

Detectives from Mogotio police station visited the scene and collected evidence after which Kiptoi was arrested.

Kiptoi is currently being held at Mogotio police station as he waits being in arraigned in court for murder related charges.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was taken to a morgue at Eldama Ravine town.

The incident comes barely a week after two brothers set their younger sibling on fire in Mandera County, over fear that he could testify against one of them accused of stealing a phone.

The younger sibling sustained serious burns which unfortunately led to his death. His elder brothers were arrested and presented in court over his murder.
