Ngirici Escalates Rivalry With Waiguru After Remarks on PS Kibicho

The political rivalry between Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici and Governor Anne Waiguru appears to be escalating by the day.

This was after the Woman Representative castigated the governor after she called for the ouster of Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

Waiguru was addressing members of the public in Embu when she called out the PS for engaging in politics instead of focusing on his constitutional mandate.

“Kuna ndugu yangu kule kutoka Kirinyaga. Nataka kumwambia Mheshimiwa Rais kwa heshima, Kirinyaga haijakosa watu wakuandikwa kazi kwa serikali lakini huyo Kibicho ameacha kazi kwa ofisi akaenda kufanya siasa. Tukimwambia aache siasa anatuambia tumeze wembe ama tujinyonge.

“Huyo Kibicho tunataka tuseme aende na kama ni kiti ya kirinyaga, vijana hapa ni wengi ambao wanaweza kutii sheria na kufuata sheria vilivyo. Watu wa Runyenjes tumekubaliana hivyo? Tuseme kibicho aende," Waiguru said.

Ngirici criticised the Kirinyaga governor for her sentiments, urging her to respect the PS.

She argued that since Kibicho's appointment to the Ministry of Interior, he has been pivotal in the development achieved in Kirinyaga County.

“It’s now clear that both of us are in UDA but Kirinyaga leadership must be respected. It is courtesy of PS Eng. Dr Karanja Kibicho that we have seen Wang’uru stadium and the overall improvement of road network in Mwea constituency, KEMRI is also coming which you vehemently opposed,” Ngirici stated..

“Two years ago you told us that the President should be respected. The respect looks good here. We are a hustler nation but that is not a license to insult your way into the second term," she added.

Ngirici has since announced that she will contest the gubernatorial seat in 2022 and seeks to dethrone Governor Waiguru.

Since defecting to UDA last month, Waiguru has faced fierce criticism from the Woman Representative as a showdown looms between the two.
