Kenya Railways Corporation has notified passengers boarding the Madaraka Express to arrive an hour earlier at the Standard Gauge Railway terminus before their scheduled departure.

In a public notice on Tuesday, November 23, Kenya Railways stated the decision was arrived at following the increase in passenger bookings as the Christmas season is fast approaching.

The corporation indicated that it had enhanced its security checks at each termini adhering to Ministry of Interior Cabinet Security Fred Matiang'i sentiments on planned inconveniences.

"Kenya Railways further assures the public that the security checks are constantly run along all our lines to ensure the safety of all our services. Any delays occasioned by these checks are therefore regrettable but unavoidable.

"The Corporation continues to work with relevant government security agencies to ensure all our services run seamlessly and with utmost safety," the statement read in part.

The corporation cautioned the public not to interfere with any of its assets, operations, and services.
