It has not been revealed yet why the DP's chief of staff was dismissed.

A tree seeding availed for DP Ruto to plant at a garden near the conference remained as such besides a hole dug, as if to suggest he can come any time he wishes and complete the assignment.

Besides DP Ruto snubbing the meeting, a section of Governors went missing suggesting that some were in solidarity with the DP.

The conference was themed “Multi-level governance for climatic action”,

Governors focused their attention on how counties can put measures and invest resources in acts that will enhance environmental conservation as a way of securing the future of their regions.

“It will be great for us to hold the conference and contribute to efforts to address climate change after the COP26 being held in Scotland,” Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Council of Governors Vice-chair, said before the conference began.

The conference was virtually opened by President Kenyatta on Tuesday. ODM leader Raila Odinga and Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i were also treated as guests of honour.

The conference is last for pioneer governors who are serving their second and last term in office.
