While handing himself over to the authorities, the suspect thought his victims had breathed their last.

A tragedy has hit a village in Kisii County after a man hacked his wife and two children before surrendering to the police.

The suspect Dennis Asiago, who hails from Gesoni village in Mosocho, Kisii County, committed the act on Sunday, December 19, then presented himself to Nyatieko Police Station.

The incident was fuelled by a domestic confrontation.

While handing himself over to the authorities, the suspect thought his victims had breathed their last only for villagers to discover them alive and rushed them to Kisii Level 6 Hospital.

The incident made agitated residents burn his house and two motorbikes in a show of rage.

A neighbour told Nation that the suspect is prone to causing domestic brawls.

Reports indicate that the woman, Ednah Kerubo, was married to the man recently with the two children adding that the man has been picking fights with the woman over the kids.

"He was telling her that the children are not his. This woman came here recently. She has not been married for long. This is his third wife.

"He keeps on marrying and remarrying. He also attacked his second wife before she abandoned him," a neighbour identified as David Ombati told Nation.

Kisii County Police Commander Francis Kooli confirmed the incident and said the suspect is in custody.

He is set to be arraigned on Monday, December 20.
