Presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi has claimed that his arrest has nothing to do with land but the 2022 elections.

Presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi has claimed that his arrest has nothing to do with land but the 2022 elections.

A Nairobi court issued a warrant of arrest against Wanjigi on Tuesday over an alleged conspiracy to commit a felony and forgery of a title deed.

According to court documents, the presidential candidate alongside nine others committed the aforementioned offences on diverse dates between April 2010 and June 2018.

However, speaking from Kamukunji Police Station where he was taken after being arrested in Westlands, Wanjigi dismissed the allegations.

"There is a bigger picture here and it has to do with elections after all why is it that every election it is Jimi that is sought. In 2017, I was looked for and now again in 2022. It is about the elections. I am making the elections very uncomfortable so let us see what is going to happen," he stated.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) descended at his Kwacha Group of Companies offices in Westlands on Monday night at around 9:30 PM.

Wanjigi was holed up at his Kwacha offices for more than 20 hours before armed officers managed to arrest him on Tuesday evening.
