Drama ensued in Ugenya, Siaya County on Saturday, February 12 after unknown people lobbed teargas at an ODM political rally. 

Reports indicate that unidentified men showed up at the political rally on a motorcycle before lobbying teargas at the attendees forcing them to scamper for safety. 

Scores were injured in the melee but no casualties were reported. 

Confirming the incident, Ugenya police commander Bernard Mugocho said police are pursuing the suspects and they will be arraigned in a court of law once arrested.  

Ugenya parliamentary seat aspirant, Dr. Daniel Odhiambo who was the host of the meeting accused his political rivals of being behind the incident.  

"In Ugenya we have peaceful campaigns because we are law-abiding and in everything that we do we will always consult security agencies," Odhiambo said.

Elsewhere, police arrested one person in connection to the slapping of a woman who shouted Azimio at a UDA rally in Kisii.

In the video footage, DP William Ruto is heard urging residents to chant his political slogan and the woman instead shouted Azimio, a slogan affiliated with the ODM leader Raila Odinga. 

It is after shouting that a man emerged and slapped her.

"Police in Kisii have acted on the incident and made an arrest of one male person namely Joash Atemba Nyagate a.k.a Sokoro

"He is in police custody assisting with the investigation and will face court action once the investigation is completed," NPS said in a statement.
