Barasa claimed that attendees had been mobilised by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua to go to the meeting and pocket their share of the money that was allegedly being dished out by organisers of the event.

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the wrong crowd at the Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

The Head of State had met with leaders and members of the public from the Mount Kenya region to issue a direction ahead of the August 9, general elections.

Barasa in a tweet, claimed that a majority of the attendees at the meeting were supporters of Deputy President William Ruto.

The lawmaker claimed that they had been mobilised by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua to go to the meeting and pocket their share of the money that was allegedly being dished out by organisers of the event.

Barasa proceeded to suggest that President Kenyatta should consider convening another meeting, Sagana 4.

“Hon. @Gachagua_R Mungu anakuona. How can you mobilize your constituents to invade Uhuru Kenyatta’s Sagana 3, take 3,000 each and come back to Mathira? The head of state addressed a wrong crowd. We are demanding for Sagana 4 na sio tafadhali,” the Kimilili MP tweeted.

During the meeting, President Kenyatta addressed leaders and the people of Mount Kenya, urging them to support ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

"I appeal you to support Raila. Help him to the top. Even my friend Ruto, he can become president someday akishika line. Tushikilie huyo Mzee (Raila) mara hii, huyo kijana (Ruto) tutafikiria baadaye

"Let's hold the old man's hand and if the other young man also reforms, I have not stopped anyone from supporting him," Uhuru said.
