Former Citizen TV news anchor Janet Mbugua has responded after she turned down Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s offer to be his running mate in the race for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat.
In a tweet on Thursday, Ms. Mbugua said that she was not ready to engage in active politics at the moment.
However, the media personality noted that she will be available in support of quality service to the residents of Kiambu County and Kenya at large.
“Thanks @HonMoses_Kuria for considering me capable to serve Kiambu County as Dep Gov. Indeed, active engagement in politics isn’t for me at the moment.
“I remain available in support of quality service to the good people of Kiambu & all of Kenya, more so vulnerable women & girls,” Ms. Mbugua remarked.

Her response came moments after Mr. Kuria expressed his disappointment with Ms. Mbugua’s decision to turn down his offer to be Kiambu deputy governor.
The vocal lawmaker stated that the media personality had scored the highest marks in his search for a deputy as he prepares to make a stab at Kiambu’s top job.
“I am shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu Deputy Governor, Janet Mbugua will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen personal emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term,” Kuria stated.
The Chama Cha Kazi party leader had declared his interest on the race last month and he has since joined forces with Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
