Odinga supports the ODM candidate Omar Boga while Ruto has rallied behind independent candidate Feisal Abdallah.

Next week on Tuesday December 15, 2020 Msambweni resident will take to the polls to elect their new Member of Parliament in what has been termed as a battle between ODM Leader Raila odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

Odinga supports the ODM candidate Omar Boga while Ruto has rallied behind independent candidate Feisal Abdallah.

On Saturday, campaigns came to an end with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho leading ODM troops in campaigning for Boga, while his Kwale counterpart Salim Mvurya led the DP’s brigade in rallying support behind Feisal.

Msambweni is considered an opposition stronghold and as such, many are expecting that Boga will carry the day. Last week, the ODM candidate met President Uhuru Kenyatta in what many interpreted to be an endorsement of his bid.

Boga has been branded the handshake candidate since Jubilee did not front any aspirants. Meanwhile, Feisal has been branded the Hustler movement candidate and has been using the ‘hustler’ ideology being peddled by DP Ruto and his allies to appeal to the electorate.

Kenyans are keenly following the by-election as pundits claim that it will show whether Odinga still has a grip of the Coastal region, or whether Ruto has made inroads and gained ground in the area.

The Msambweni seat fell vacant after the death of former MP Suleiman Dori.
