Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen and Fwaro Makokha Robinson are the top students in the just-released 2022 KCPE results.

The two students both scored 431 marks out of 500 marks in the results released by Education CS Ezekiel on Wednesday, December 21, at Mitihani House, Nairobi.

Omondi was a student at St. Peter's Mumias Boys Primary School in Kakamega, while Makokha was a student at Christ the King Primary School in Bungoma.

Speaking during the release of the exams, Machogu said that the overall performance in the exams improved compared to that of the 2021 KCPE exams.

A total of 1,233,852 candidates sat for the national examination, with 9,443 of those scoring above 400 marks in the test.

In the 2021 KCPE results, the top student scored 428 marks.

The Education CS on Wednesday said that female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English language, Kiswahili and Kenya Sign language in the 2022 KCPE results.

On the other hand, male candidates performed better than their female counterparts in Mathematics, Science and Social Studies & Religious Education.

Machogu directed the Education Quality Assurance and Standards to find ways of bridging gaps in performance in the specific subjects.
