Mumia East MP Peter Salasya has asked his constituents to pray for him after he intimated that he is unwell.

In a video on his official Twitter account on Thursday, January 5, Salasya said that he had handed over his duties to his constituency manager and that he will take a 2-week break.

The first-time MP said that for the past few weeks he has been engaged in rigorous activities in his constituency and could not even sleep.

He said that he has overworked and that it was good for him to take a rest away from work, even as he asked his constituents to pray for his quick recovery.

"Banabefu muniombeeko. Nimefanya kazi kwa ground for the last one to two months sijakua nikilala, yaani napanga vitu usiku na mchana. By the way sometimes you need to take a rest. I have overworked. I need to take a rest. I am not feeling well," Salasya said.

During the festive season, the lawmaker held a football tournament that was attended by a number of leaders and thousands of his constituents.

Salasya also surprised his constituents with gifts over the period, maintaining that he set aside Sh3 million for the gifts.

"3,000,000 budget Christmas gifts to mumias east residents tomorrow. I didn't use a lot to campaign and so I lose nothing by giving them," Salasya said on December 22, 2022.
