President Ruto on September 2022 appointed Uhuru as the Kenyan peace envoy for the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei now wants President William Ruto to recall his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta from his peace envoy role.

Cherargei claims that the former Head of State is undermining the Kenya Kwanza government by allegedly funding Azimio la Umoja protest rallies.

“President Ruto should ask Uhuru to step down from his role of Peace envoy to DRC for the continued undermining of our government. His role in Azimio-OKA activities of allegedly funding Maandamos/ political rallies is proof enough. Taxes must paid regardless of who you are !. Ushuru ulipwe,” Cherargei tweeted on Tuesday, January 31.

His remarks come a day after President Ruto warned Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance financiers against evading tax.

“We cannot continue to operate in a space where those in power exempt themselves from paying taxes using all manner of instruments while those who do not have as much power pay tax. The good people who are used to exempting themselves from paying tax their day is up and every citizen must pay tax.

“It doesn’t matter even if they sponsor demonstrations so that they don’t pay tax, I want to promise them they will pay tax. No more exemptions, this country is not an animal farm where some are more equal than the others, “Ruto said on Monday, January 31 during the National Assembly Post Election Seminar in Mombasa.
