Two officers were killed in a shoot out whil three others died in a separate attack on a matatu. 

At least five people have been killed in separate banditry attacks in Turkana County.

Among the five, reliable sources have confided to Nairobi Leo that two were police officers.

In one incident, a shoot out that ensued on Friday night claimed the lives of the police officers. 

Police were repelling an attack by bandits believed to be on a mission to steal cattle when the two were shot dead. 

On Saturday morning, sources told this writer that county commander was injured after they were attacked while while going to recover the body of the two deceased officers. 

In another banditry attacks, three people, aboard a Matatu, including a secondary school student and a refugee were killed on their way to Lodwar. 

The bandits posed as passengers before they sprayed bullets on the matatu

“I didn't know if they were criminals, but the usual cows running on the road, were not there. When they shot the first in the air, I decided that I can't wait and decided to save myself, I drove zig zag... they shot others and eventuall hit the vehicle,” the driver of the matatu said. 

The attack happened along the Kitale-Lodwar highway.

Turkana County Police Commander Samuel Ndayi confirmed these incedents.
