Fake job adverts bearing the name of government agencies have been on the rise in recent times.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has clarified reports that it has job openings to be filled by interested applicants. 

In a tweet, KNEC  on Thursday said there is no ongoing recruitment exercise.

The examinations body has cautioned Kenyans against any advert purporting to claim it is recruiting for any position unless it is from its verified social media pages or website.

“The announcement below on recruitment is not from KNEC," the council warned after sharing an image of the fake advert.

The fake advert indicated that there is an ongoing recruitment beginning beg February 15 and closing on February 28. 

“KNEC recruitment 2023/2024 is ongoing. Kenya National Examinations Council job application portal www.knec.ac.ke, requirements, how to apply, starting, closing date and other relevant information are available on this page," the statement read in part.

The clarification comes in the wake of increasing fake job application sites targeting parastatals and government agencies.

Kenyans seeking job opportunities have been asked to verify job advertisements on the official handles of respective institutions to avoid falling prey to cons out to rob them.
