The officer was caught wielding a gun while threatening the motorist.

The Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome had broken his silence over a viral clip in which an officer has been captured harassing a civilian.

Koome in an official statement condemned the officer's conduct saying it goes against the police code of practice.

He stated that the service would strive to discipline officers caught misbehaving or partaking in unruly practices.

He regreted that a cohort of officers was watering down the strides made so far as regards the reforms in the police service.

"We regret the incident and reiterate that the behavior exhibited by the officer does not reflect the core values of NPS, more so during this reform period.

The IG said the officer in question had already been identified and would have appropriate action taken immediately after the probe.

As seen and heard in the video, the officer was taking on the motorist who was transporting charcoal.

The cop argued that the man had flouted traffic laws but he defended himself seeking to solve the issue amicably with the officer.

He wanted him to disembark from the vehicle and accompany him to the station; the motorist however declined the invitation.
