"CS Moses Kuria is obviously wrong in his onslaught against Mr Lei Cheng of China Square," Lawyer Ahmednasir said.

Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industry Moses Kuria has fired back at Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi for calling him out on the China Square saga.

Kuria's intervention following uproar from a section of Nairobi traders saw China Square shut indefinitely.

While reacting to the development, Ahmednasir called out the CS saying he is wrong for targeting the businessman whose strategy has become successful within a short time.

"Our policies should not have "a racist" undertone. CS Moses Kuria is obviously wrong in his onslaught against Mr Lei Cheng of China Square," the lawyer said in a tweet.

Ahmednasir added it was ironic for Kuria to say Kenya is open for business opportunities yet he is pushing China Square owner Cheng Lei to the corner.

"'Kenya is open for business' is Kuria's mantra, yet he is at war with Cheng for succeeding in his business model, selling cheapest," he said.

But in a rejoinder, Kuria maintained his hardline stance. He chided China Square for turning Kenya into a dumping country.

"Kenya is open for business but Kenya is not open for dumping," he said in a tweet that tagged Ahmednasir.

China square has been the talk of the town in the last few days after Kenyans trooped there in numbers in search of basic necessities.

The move was fueled by reports that it was selling products cheaply compared to traditional known markets in Nairobi.

The Shop has however closed indefinitely after Kenyan traders and government officials weighed into their modus operandi.
