At the same time, UDA has announced former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala as the new party secretary general, replacing nominated Senator Veronica Maina.

A source within the party told Nairobi Leo that Malala is likely to be unveiled as the party SG today, Monday, February 27.

The UDA party has already sent an invitation for a press conference this Monday.

"United Democratic Alliance National Executive Committee will this afternoon 27th February 2023, hold a Press conference at the Party Headquarters Time 3.30 pm Venue Hustler Plaza, Ngong road," the press invite read.

His naming as the ruling outfit SG is set to scuttle his chances of being a CAS considering that one cannot serve a political party and the at the same time be in office.

Malala vied for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in 2022, but lost to Fernandes Barasa
