The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has made a request to Kenyans after President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga agreed to hold dialogue. 

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has urged Kenyans to support President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga’s dialogue.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 4, NCIC chairman Samuel Kobia commended President Ruto and Raila for agreeing to have a dialogue.

Kobia stated that the two leaders need support for their courageous steps and urged Kenyans to support them.

“The two leaders have demonstrated statesmanship and deserve support for the courageous steps they have taken towards resolving all issues at the table through dialogue. As a Commission mandated to facilitate peaceful coexistence in Kenya, we fully support the process and encourage all Kenyans to do the same to a better, peaceful and prosperous Kenya,” read the statement in part.

Kobia revealed that the commission would convene a series of national conversations on economic prosperity, political stability, and social cohesion in Kenya.

“These conversations shall target Kenyans from all walks of life to deliberate on the critical issues affecting the lives of ordinary wananchi and the middle class as well. Recommendations from the forums will contribute to, and enrich ideas and practical activities of the new trajectory evolving from the dialogue initiative,” Kobia added.

The NCIC chairman further asked Kenyans to safeguard and sustain peaceful coexistence.
