Six Students died on Tuesday, April 18 after a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) they were traveling in collided with a lorry at Delamare in Naivasha, Nakuru County. 

Reports indicate the students were headed to Nairobi County when the accident happened.  

Ten other students, who were injured in the accident, were rushed to the Naivasha County Hospital for treatment.

This comes barely a month after fourteen people among them students died on the same highway in an accident involving a Pwani University bus and a Matatu.

The University bus was headed to Eldoret for a national sports competition when it collided with a Matatu and overturned.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in a report on April 3 noted that over one thousand people have lost their lives in the first three months of 2023.

“According to the latest report, of the 1,072 people killed on our roads, 362 are pedestrians, 302 are motorcyclists, 184 are passengers, 101 are pillion passengers, 104 are drivers while 19 are pedal cyclists,” NTSA stated.

The Authority also pointed out that the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway is the most dangerous road in the country following multiple accident cases.
