"Jumapili ijayo iwe ni Jumapili iliyoojaa nyota," he prayed.

Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Center and Church was Thursday released from Police custody after the court ordered his freedom on Sh1.5m cash bail or Sh3 million bond.

The prosecution had applied to detain Odero for 30 days, citing fresh affidavits in a case involving mass deaths.

However, Shanzu senior principal magistrate Joe Omido dismissed the application.

His release saw hundreds of his supporters break into song and dance as a sign of gratitude to God for the release of their spiritual father.

In his first address to his followers, Pastor Ezekiel expressed gratitude for the immense support they had shown him.

"Na mimi nasema asante. Tuwe na ibada jumapili... Tutoe ibada ya shukrani," he said.

He went on to declare blessings to his supporters for standing with him even as he said he will not address the matter on his arrest as it is still active in court.

"May the Lord of the heavens bless you. I can't say how but each of you in His own way," he said.

On their request, he prayed for the crowd that had gathered to welcome him, asking God to protect them.

"Jumapili ijayo iwe ni Jumapili iliyoojaa nyota," he prayed.

Ezekiel's release came after he had spent a week in a police study over allegations of having links to Controversial Pastor Paul MacKenzie.

The man of God has however denied such links even as he distanced himself from the religious leader.
