Nairobi Police Commander Adamson Bungei has been promoted to the rank of assistant Inspector General of Police.

The changes saw all new regional police commanders promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of police.

Also promoted to the rank of assistant IG is Dr Resila Onyango who is the spokesperson of the National Police Service.

North Eastern Police commander Tom Muriithi and his Eastern counterpart Joseph Napeiyan were also promoted to the rank of assistant IG.

General Service Unit Commandant Eliud Lagat, Deputy Director of DCI Nicholas Kamwende, head of investigations at DCI Abdallah Komesha and Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) Director David Birech were among those promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General of police (S/AIG). 

They have already been ordered to wear the new insignia. 

The promotions were announced by police headquarters and will be taken to the National Police Service Commission for ratification.
