Kiambu County Assembly Deputy Speaker who also serves as Hospital ward MCA, in Thika,  John Njue Njiru has been arrested. 

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officers arrested the MCA on allegations of soliciting a bribe to facilitate a fraudulent transaction. 

He was arrested on Tuesday Morning.

Njiru is currently being held at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station where he is recording a statement.

The suspect is accused of demanding a bribe of Sh130,000 from a complainant.

The complainant disclosed that the MCA demanded a free portion of prime land belonging to the complainant.

The land is domiciled within Thika town. 

The demand was in order to 'facilitate' and have the complainant permitted to proceed with any activity on her land.

The land has an estimated worth of Sh15 million in Thika Town.

The complainant had alerted the EACC detectives of the demand leading to an ambush that was laid leading to his arrest.

The MCA recorded a statement and was released.
