Wamuchomba is among the MPs who voted against the bill on Wednesday, June 13.

Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has commended Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba for voting against the controversial Finance Bill 2023 during the second reading in the National Assembly.

In a statement via Twitter on Friday, June 16, Karua stated that Wamuchomba is a true representative of the people.

“Congrats hon_wamuchomba for your firm stand in articulating your constituents and views of a majority of Kenyans. A true representative of the people,” she stated.

Wamuchomba is among the MPs who voted against the bill on Wednesday, June 13.

The bill however sailed through after 176 MPs votes yes while 81 voted against it.

In an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday, Wamuchomba stated she is ready to lose her MP seat for going against the Kenya Kwanza coalition’s stand on the bill.

The UDA MP also distanced herself from claims that she is an Azimio mole in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has so far stated Kenya Kwanza MPs who opposed the Finance Bill in the National Assembly will face disciplinary action.

“The few elements within Kenya Kwanza MPs who opposed the Bill shall face party KK disciplinary action,” Cherargei tweeted on Wednesday.
