World Record Holder Faith Kipyegon has been given Sh2 million by Safaricom for her outstanding performance.  

Faith Kipyegon set a new world record in the 1,500m when she won the Florence Diamond League on June 2 in 3:49.11 before breaking the 5,000m world record a week later with victory in 14:05.20 in the Paris Diamond League.

Kipyegon was pictured receiving a Sh2 million cheque from Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa. 

"As part of our unwavering commitment to support, honor, and celebrate our extraordinary Kenyan athletes, we presented the exceptional world champion, Faith Kipyegon, with a well-deserved token of appreciation. 

"This gesture comes in recognition of her truly remarkable feat of breaking not just one, but two world records in the 1500m and 500m races in Florence and Paris earlier this month. Faith Kipyegon's unparalleled achievements serve as a testament to her unwavering dedication, exceptional talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence," Part of the statement by Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa read. 

There was also a display of Faith Kipyegon on Monday night at KICC as part of celebrating Kipyegon's double achievements.
