"When majority want you gone, you respectfully pack up and go, as leadership is not about being in interim charge."

Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has called out EALA MP Hassan Omar after chaos rocked a UDA Mombasa delegates meeting at the Government Training Institute (GTI) Mombasa.

In a statement via Twitter, Ali stated that no individual should claim exclusivity of the ruling party.

The second term added that decisions concerning the UDA party should be made collectively and the will of the majority respected.

“It is bigotry to use someone's kindness as a stepping stone. No single individual can claim exclusivity of our party. Let alone someone already despised by the people. Where decisions are made collectively, the respect is for the will of the majority.

"And when majority want you gone, you respectfully pack up and go, as leadership is not about being in interim charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge” said Ali.

The UDA MP went on to say that he is determined to grow the party’s support in Mombasa County from 44 percent to 100 percent saying nothing can hinder his determination.

“We are determined to take the 44% UDA support to 100% in Mombasa and nothing can hinder our determination,” he added.

Ali remarks come after his supporters clashed with those of Omar bringing the UDA meeting to a standstill.

Police officers lobbed teargas canisters to contain the chaos between the two leaders forcing the UDA meeting to end prematurely.

Speaking after the fracas, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala stated that the party will carry out investigations and summon Ali and Omar to get to the bottom of the matter.

“We will take action against people bringing violence to the party. We want to find police who lobbed teargas in a hall that was peaceful. We must have decorum, we will not condone violence in the party,” said Malala.
