“I saw there was an incident in Mombasa that is a positive thing….people only fight for a popular party."

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has praised recent chaos witnessed during United Democratic Alliance (UDA) meetings.

Speaking on Monday, June 26 at the UDA Party headquarters in Nairobi, the Deputy President stated that the wrangles signify that the party is popular.

“I saw there was an incident in Mombasa that is a positive thing….people only fight for a popular party, all these other briefcase parties, nobody is bothered about them because nobody really knows about their existence so the more vicious leadership wrangles are, the better for the party,” said Gachagua.

The second in command also commended UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malalah saying since coming to office the party has been engaged in various activities across the country.

"We are very happy with what our secretary general is doing and other officials. Since his appointment to this office, the party has been energized with very many activities across the country,” he added.

This comes after Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Boss Shollei expressed her dissatisfaction with Malalah, accusing him of failing to tame the emerging chaos in the party meetings.

"I am disappointed with the performance of Malala, he has been going on the UDA membership drives and many of them have ended in violence," Shollei said.
