The two will be arraigned before court on Thursday, June 29. 

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) detectives have apprehended David Mwangi alias Mzae and Ezekiel Kiarie Njoki over links to robberies in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Muranga and Kajiado counties.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 28, DCI stated that Kiarie was arrested along Limuru Road while trying to escape with his family on a Mitsubishi canter.

“The suspect identified as Ezekiel Kiarie who has been on the run for the past few days was arrested along Limuru road as he escaped with his family from the city to his rural home in Dundori, Nyandarua County.

“Detectives intercepted a Mitsubishi canter registration number KAM 231J, that was ferrying the suspect, his family members and their belongings to Nyandarua, after realizing that detectives were closing in on them,” the statement read in part.

The detectives also recovered two firearms; a Czeska and CZ P-07 pistols together with 12 rounds of 9mm caliber after conducting a search on the vehicle.

The two firearms are linked to robbery incidents where victims lost money after making transactions in banks.

Mwangi and Kiarie will be arraigned before court on Thursday, June 29 over the crimes.
