Sports CS Ababu Namwamba on Monday, July 4 hosted WRC Safari Rally drivers for a dinner in appreciation for their gallant efforts in the just concluded WRC Safari Rally Kenya. 

Speaking during the event, the Sports CS noted that this year's Safari Rally was a special heritage event that also celebrated 70 years of rally in Kenya. 

"From the bustling streets of Nairobi, you navigated all through the roads, and endured the long hours to ensure that the Kenyan flag flew high," Namwamba told the drivers as he congratulated them.

He added, "This evening is one that will leave to mark in our calendar as we appreciate the role that our Rally drivers play in keeping our nation together. As a Cabinet Secretary, I want to assure you that the Government is committed to supporting and uplifting the driving profession in Kenya, because Safari rally is not just about foreign drivers flying in with their cars, zooming around our towns for a while and flying back."

Eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier won this year's World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally in Kenya.
