Eric Omondi's latest agitation against the Ruto regime has made him billed as a strong candidate for Lang'ata MP seat.

Comedian Eric Omondi has for the first time spoken on harboring political ambitions, specifically the Lang'ata Parliamentary seat.

The comedian-cum-activist in an interview with online televisions admitted to hearing reports that he is eyeing the Lang'ata Parliamentary seat.

He said though he is not planning to replace anyone, he would not hesitate to grab a chance even if it means joining politics.

"I'm not planning to replace anyone but given a chance, I would," he said.

"I have never talked about Lang'ata but if it's what Kenyans want, this is what I will tell them: The voice of the people is God's voice."

Omondi's activism in the recent past has been billed as a perfect script of someone eyeing political ambitions.

He has been at the forefront of agitating for the interests of ordinary citizens even as he put President William Ruto’s administration on check regarding issues like unemployment and the cost of living.

It is this agitation that pushed him to be among those who vehemently opposed the Finance Bill 2023 that was passed by Parliament and assented into law by President Ruto.

The passing of the Bill by the National Assembly has seen Omondi declare war with the MPs who backed it including the Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, alias Jalang'o.

"I can only shout so much on your microphones but when it comes to voting (on Bills) it's the MPs who vote. If I had a chance to remove them, I would remove them today not 2027," he said.

Jalang'o who was elected on an ODM party ticket has been labelled a rebel for vowing to work with President Ruto.

Being a Lang'ata MP that is perceived to be Raila’s stronghold has left pundits saying he will unlikely retain the seat in 2027.

Omondi's push against Ruto and move to distribute food items to Lang'ata residents in the past has put him in a situation where he is billed as a potential candidate to topple Jalang'o out of the Lang'ata seat.
