Documents and electronic equipment were allegedly stolen.

Busia senator Okiya Omtatah's office in Busia is said to have been broken into.

The suspected thugs raided the premises on the dawn Sunday, July 23.

They are said to have made away with documents and electronic equipment.

The electronics stolen included a television set and a number of flash disks.

The suspects gained entry into the office after breaking one of the windows.

In a cryptic tweet responding to the raid, Senator Omtatah quoted a Bible verse which seemed to affirm that he would not be shaken by the events that had transpired.

Witnesses say the intruders broke one of the windows to gain entry.

The administrator, Becker Ogot, in the office linked the incident with the senator's political stance.

Omtatah recently welcomed the decision of the High Court to suspend the implementation of the Finance Act 2023.

He said he will accept the verdict of the court even if it will later allow the bill to sail through arguing that according to him, it fell short of legal standards.

The activist in the company of six others filed a petition to challenge the new finance law that was to be effected in July.

Omtatah was objected to the new tax regime sanctioned in the law.

Earlier in May, the senator challenged President William Ruto to make changes to the bill which he threatened to challenge in court.

He made good his threat and filed a petition to challenge the law after the president assented to it on June 26.

The High Court would then issue an injunction on June 30, pausing the implementation of the law.

The matter is currently before a three-judge bench that will hear and determine it.
