Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday, July 31, unveiled the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) report for the 2022 KCSE students. 

870,561 candidates were eligible for placement to universities and colleges.

Of these, a total of 285,698 students submitted applications for placement to universities and colleges. A

Atotal of 285,167 secured places in degree, diploma, craft certificate and artisan courses in 282 training institutions.

The number of students who secured placement in degree programmes is 140,107 (130,485 to public universities and 9622 private universities).

This represents 80.9% of the 173,244 students who qualified for degree programmes.

144,500 applicants have been placed in TVET institutions, while 560 applicants have been placed in Secondary Teacher Training Colleges.

The launch of the report happened at the Kenya School of Government for the year 2023/2024.

The unveiling set the stage for thousands of candidates to know the universities and colleges they have been placed in and the course they will pursue.

Students are now expected to plan on joining universities and colleges in September meaning they have a month to prepare.

The launch comes after students were given a chance to apply and revise their courses.

How to check

Following the launch of the placement report, students can access the confirmation of their placement on the KUCCPS website. 

They will be required to log in with their KCSE index number, year of graduation, and KCPE Index number or birth certificate number.

Upon logging in, the candidates will be able to see on their accounts' dashboard the university or college they have been placed in and the specific course they will pursue. 

Candidates can also access their placement details by sending an SMS with their Index Numbers to 20842.
