"There was one lady in the roads department who was corrupt to the core. To the extent that she could not be transferred," Ruto said.

Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has confirmed that the woman President William Ruto described as "Corrupt to the core" and "untouchable" exited the public service.

Murkomen in a statement on Twitter said they followed the due process of the law that saw the lady, whose identity is yet to be revealed, exits the service.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the officer mentioned by HE President Ruto was dismissed from the government agency on 29th of May 2023 after the due process was followed," Murkomen said in a tweet.

Addressing Cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries and senior government officials at State House on Tuesday, President Ruto said the lady had become untouchable at the road ministry.

Ruto said attempts to transfer the lady were futile as she devised ways of keeping herself at the road department.

"There was one lady in the roads department who was corrupt to the core. To the extent that she could not be transferred by anybody, even by the minister, because if she was transferred she will go to court, buy the court process and make sure that she is returned. That is the kind of chronic where corruption has taken us," he said.

The President went on to express hope that the lady had vacated service adding that such characters should not work in government.

"I hope Mr Kipchumba Murkomen and Bwana Mbugua that the lady no longer works for the government of Kenya," the President said.
