“We funded Wajackoyah’s manifesto launch and the way we did it is that we wanted it to be launched on the same day that Ruto was doing his launch."

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi’s claims that the former administration funded the Roots Party’s manifesto launch in 2022 has occasioned a clash between him and Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah.

Speaking during an interview with NTV on Saturday, August 12, Ngunyi said they wanted to irritate President William Ruto by having the Roots Party manifesto launch happening on the same day as Kenya Kwanza.

“We funded Wajackoyah’s manifesto launch and the way we did it is that we wanted it to be launched on the same day that Ruto was doing his launch and our thinking was Ruto has a choleric temper and we wanted to irritate him,” Ngunyi claimed.

Wajackoyah in a statement has however dismissed Ngunyi’s remarks terming them baseless and an insult to the Roots Party.

The former presidential candidate accused Ngunyi of using false narratives to please President Ruto.

“These remarks are baseless, unfounded, and serve as an insult to our party. Roots party is a National party and does not subscribe to tokenism, a field Mutahi Ngunyi holds a PhD in,” said Wajackoyah.

He added, “For a man who survives on intellectual harlotry and peddling false political conjectures, it is least worrying that he will use our party to kneel before Mr.Ruto. We are aware of Ngunyi's frantic pleasing of the president and refuse to be used as an entry narrative in unholy political matrimony.”

Ngunyi in a rejoinder mentioned that if he was allowed use Wajackoyah there would have been a runoff in the 2022 presidential election and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga would have emerged victorious.

“At the core, you are what political scientists call a useful idiot. Clever, but Stupid. That is why we funded your manifesto launch to irritate Ruto. If I was allowed to use you, a run-off was Inevitable. And Babaman would be president today,” Ngunyi responded.
