Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged women to embrace support groups and create financial institutions that will support savings, investments, and access to credit.

Mudavadi spoke on Saturday when he launched the Western Kenya Muslim Women Sacco in Kakamega, during the annual Western Kenya Muslim Women Qur’an Memorization Competition, held at Kakamega Muslim Secondary School.

"As Government, you’ll have our undivided support. You are an inspiration when we see you come together in efforts to pave way for economic advancements not only for individual gain but also for families, communities and the nation,” he stated. 

The Prime Cabinet Secretary lauded the Sacco saying it will be a gate-opener to growth of the economy of the Western Kenya region, and urged women and youth from other regions to follow the example.

“You have made us proud because the establishment of this Sacco showcases the importance of inclusive economic growth and highlights the valuable contributions that our diverse communities make to the nation's prosperity. It is a testament to the unstoppable spirit of our nation," Mudavadi said. 

He added, “The Sharia Compliance Sacco demonstrates an admirable endeavour of entrepreneurship, resilience, and unwavering determination to change financial fortunes for a better tomorrow." 

The event which attracted Muslim women from Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and Trans Nzoia counties was also aimed at inculcating the reading and memorization of the Noble Qur’an among women and the society in the region.
