Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has broken his silence after posting a dismal performance in the Budapest Championship finals that saw him take position 7. 

Addressing the media briefly over the performance, Omanyala appeared to suggest that he was somewhat not fit for the race citing his body's laxity.

Omanyala said he will analyse the performance and try to find out what could have happened during the race.

"I really can't tell what happened today. My body wasn't just firing from the semis like it did yesterday (Saturday)," Omanyala said.

"We'll just have to go back and see where to correct and what to do best next time." 

Omanyala finished seventh ahead of Jamaican Ryiem Forde with a time of 10.07 seconds.

"I know many are disappointed with the result but there is no way we are going back in that. No way you are going back in time we have to accept what happened and see how to get better next time."

The race was won by American Noah Lyles with 9.83 seconds, while Letsile Tebogo of Botswana and Zharnel Huges of Great Britain came in second and third at 9.88 seconds each.

Oblique Seville, Christian Coleman and Abdul Hakim Sani Brown came in fourth, fifth and sixth with 9.88 seconds, 9.92 seconds and 10.04 seconds respectively.
