"If you convince the interview panel I will appoint you without hesitation."

Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has challenged former Mukurweini Member of Parliament to apply for the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director Position after he sacked Alex Gitari.

In a statement on Saturday, August 26, Murkomen said he would appoint Kabando wa Kabando without hesitation if he convinces the interview panel that he can serve well in the position.

“I challenge you to apply for the position of MD KAA when we advertise soon. If you convince the interview panel I will appoint you without hesitation,” Murkomen stated.

The Transport CS was responding after Kabando claimed that the government wanted Gitari out of KAA.

“It was already in the books that Ruto's UDA was craving to out KAA MD Alex Gitari. The excuse to sack him arrived last night. Rais won't sack his men, CS Murkomen and CS Chirchir. Sacred cows uncocking whisky at KPLC, KAA,” Kabando claimed.

Murkomen sacked Gitari after Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was thrown into a blackout on Friday night after power outages were witnessed in various parts of the country.

He appointed Henry Ogoye to take over from Gitari in an acting capacity with immediate effect. Ogoye was serving as the Head of Corporate Planning at the authority until his appointment to the new role.

Murkomen also sacked KAA General Manager Project and Engineering Services Fred Odawo replacing him with Eng. Samuel Mwochache in an acting capacity.

The Transport CS further assured Kenyans that efforts have been put n place to ensure the incident does not happen again.

“In order to ensure that a similar incident is not replicated, it has been decided that the two generators that were procured more than two years ago be immediately commissioned,” said Mr Murkomen.
