The two, disguising officers from the National Intelligence Service, wanted the DCI to help them in the arrest of a suspect.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has exposed two people who stormed its headquarters pretending to be officers from the National Intelligence Service.

Samuel Morara Nyambane and Joseph Murimi Njue were arrested after they appeared at DCI headquarters seeking the arrest of a suspect.

"They presented themselves at the DCI Headquarters as officers of the Directorate of Military Intelligence and National Intelligence Service respectively, seeking assistance in the apprehension of a suspect," DCI narrated.

According to the DCI, the two claimed they were frustrated by an officer investigating the case hence they need help in having the matter sorted.

"The two cited frustrations from the Investigating officer in a case of obtaining money by false pretence that was allegedly recorded at Central Police Station, Nairobi," DCI said.

Detectives serving the two however became suspicious of them and demanded their identification details.

They however claimed that they had not walked with their identification documents hence they could not avail them.

"They were subjected to further background checks where it was established that they were personating leading to their arrest and subsequent arraignment," DCI said.

"Preliminary investigations reveal that the two are part of a group of swindlers who have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public."

The two were arrested and later arraigned at Kiambu Law Courts where they faced impersonation charges.

"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wishes to inform any persons who may have fallen victim to the two to report at the DCI Headquarters."
