Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Monday, September 11, made another unannounced visit to Nyayo House.

During the visit, CS Kithure held a meeting with senior Immigration State Department officers and engaged Kenyans who had come to both collect and have their passports processed.

The Interior CS affirmed that this Government will eradicate corruption at Nyayo House and ensure efficiency in the printing and collecting of passports.

"Sustaining the momentum for radical changes to create efficiency, eradicate corruption, and clear the historical backlog in the processing of passports remains a primary and must-achieve target for the Government," CS Kithure stated.

Last week, Kindiki made a similar visit and engaged Kenyans who were at the queue at Nyayo House and announced that the State would clear the backlog of pending 40,000 passports.

"The 10-day countdown to clear the historical backlog of pending 40,000 plus passport applications is on. Deployment of day and night shifts to facilitate full capacity printing of passports, procurement of modern printing equipment, and recruitment of additional immigration officers will help us resolve the systemic challenges that have hampered service delivery," he remarked.

The Monday morning visit is CS Kindiki's fourth in the month of September.
