Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi now wants Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to take accountability for his recent pronouncements over the state of corruption in the National Police Service.
The police boss admitted that corruption is a known menace in the service, giving his own experience.
"I can't lie. Corruption is with us as police. This problem is called returns; where the junior officers are collecting money and taking it to the Corporal, Base Commander, OCPD, and even the County Commander...some have even come to my office trying to give me something but I refused," Koome said.
Taking stock of Koome's sentiments, Ahmednasir asked him to give Kenyans elaborate details of the indictment which is the corruption in the police service.

According to the lawyer, giving such statements off the cuff was not enough considering the office the IG holds.
"This confession by IG Koome the police officers have variously tried to bribe him is shocking...He must answer a few questions," started Ahmednasir.
He asked the IG to explain the actions he had taken against those in uniform he knows take kickbacks from the citizenry.
Besides presenting the actions taken, the attorney wanted Koome to share the identities of the corrupt individuals.
Ahmednasir invited Koome to resign in the event he would not give Kenyans the details he had asked for.
"How many officers came to your office to give you something? Give the names and ranks of the officers who came to your office to give you something. Give the dates these officers came to your office to give you something. How many officers have you arrested trying to give you something?
How many officers are being prosecuted for trying to give you something? If the answer to the above is none...when will you tender your resignation IG Koome?" posed Ahmednasir.
