"Kawira, have put me in trouble. Since yesterday, there have been threats, and I hear that you have problems."

Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has claimed that he was threatened over presiding over the launch of the Meru Industrial Park.

Speaking in Meru County on Monday, October 2, Kuria said he could not cancel the launch because the county is one of President William Ruto's strongholds.

The Trade CS noted that when he launched industrial parks in Azimio counties, he was well received because they knew the benefits of the project.

"Kawira, have put me in trouble. Since yesterday, there have been threats, and I hear that you are having problems here. I was at the forefront of fighting for the Azimio people, and just the other day, I was received like a king in Siaya because they understand the significance of this Industrial Park to them,” said Kuria.

He added, “ Among the counties I have launched industrial parks, ten belong to Azimio, and two to Kenya Kwanza. This is because we said that every Kenyan will be a shareholder in William Ruto's government. I asked myself if went to Azimio counties where they were throwing stones at us, would I fail to come to a county that chose William Ruto to be the man?"

Kuria went on to say that he had no interest in interfering in Meru County's political affairs, adding that even the Deputy President had said that political wrangles should be left to the locals.

The former Gatundu MP on Sunday alleged that Agriculture CS Mithika Linituri had approached him to postpone the groundbreaking ceremony of the Meru Industrial Park.

"I have received requests from my colleague Mithika Linturi and the Meru Leadership to postpone due to the prevailing political situation in Meru," CS Kuria said.

He however turned down the request owing to the urgent need to solve poverty and joblessness facing many youths in the country.

"With profound respect, I will not postpone. The joblessness and poverty facing our people can not wait for even one hour as we fix our broken politics," the CS said.
