"The reason I came here is because I saw Cliff Ombeta on TV. I gave him Ksh 1.5 million and he blocked my phone number."

Tigania East Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi on Friday, October 13 interrupted the Senate Ad hoc committee on the Proliferation of Religious Organisations to demand for his money from lawyer Cliff Ombeta.

Aburi claimed that the renowned lawyer owes him Ksh 1.5 million and blocked him after evading his calls for a while.

The lawmaker explained that after seeing Ombeta on TV he was forced to show up in the proceedings to ask for his money from the lawyer.

“My name is honorable Mpuru Aburi MP for Tigania East and a friend of this committee, just a moment. The reason I came here is because I saw Cliff Ombeta on TV. I gave him Ksh 1.5 million and he blocked my phone number, I swear in the name of God,” Aburi stated.

The Tigania East MP demanded to be allowed to go outside with Ombeta so that he can be refunded his money.

The committee chair Danstan Mungatana however declined to Aburi’s request saying the matter was beyond the Shakahola inquiry committee.

“I think that is beyond the mandate of this committee,” Mungatana said as he moved on with the committee proceedings.

Ombeta was appearing before the committee together with his client Pastor Ezekiel Odero to answer questions over the alleged links with the Shakahola massacre.
