President William Ruto on Friday, October 20, during the Mashujaa Day celebrations honoured Harrison Pemba Taga with the prestigious National Heroes Award due to his conservation efforts at Maasai Mara National Park.
Mr. Taga is the founder of Mara Napa Camp, a social impact luxury camp, and the dedicated president of both the Mara Napa Foundation and Friends of Maasai Mara.
His efforts go beyond wildlife conservation and encompass sustainability, community empowerment, and holistic support for the entire Maasai Mara region.
"Guarding the Maasai Mara isn't just a duty; it's an expression of our deep affection for this natural haven and the life it sustains," Taga told this journalist.

Mr. Taga's notable contribution as part of the Global March for Elephants and Rhinos, Kenyan chapter, has been instrumental in the ongoing battle to protect these majestic creatures.
At the same time, President Ruto in his speech at Kericho Green Stadium, singled out Samuel Ng'etich Kipsoi for praise.

Ruto in his speech said Kipsoi, a prominent businessman believed to have dropped out of school at class three, was a true embodiment of the bottom-up story.
"We also celebrate Mzee Samuel Kipsoi Ngetich Chepsetyon, an incredible entrepreneur who exemplifies the bottom-up story. A class 3 dropout, he pulled himself up through sheer determination, to set up the Kipchimchim Group of Companies, whose interests span various industries and employ thousands of Kenyans," the President said.
