The Immigration advised Kenyans on how to track their passports after application.

The Directorate of Immigration Department now says passports totalling 43,742 were printed between September 25 and October 20 to raise the number of total passports to 131,196.

This was after the government initiated the Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to fast-track the processing of the documents after complaints from Kenyans regarding the backlog in processing and issuing the initial 87,454 passports.

Since September 25 when the initiative began, a total of 60,567 passports have been collected.

The department said the list of ready passports would continue to be posted on its official X, its former Twitter, handle.

"Every Wednesday, during the RRI period, a list scheduling the collection of passports the following week is posted on the Directorate of Immigration official Twitter (X) account: @ImmigrationDept."

As hinted earlier, the department said that an additional 43,742 new passports have been printed since the launch of the RRI.

They are distributed as follows;

Nairobi - 52,160

Mombasa - 13,594

Kisumu - 15,287

Nakuru - 11,036

Eldoret - 12,289

Embu - 15,476

Kisii - 11,354

Currently, 70,629 passports are ready for collection across the country.

The government urged the applicants to monitor the status of their passports on their respective eCitizen portals and on the Directorate of Immigration's official communication channels.
