“It is Raila’s entitlement to endorse anyone, never mind that he wrote a statement of clarification."

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has maintained she is still in the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Addressing the media on Monday, October 23, after officially launching the Kamwene Forum, Karua said she is in the Azimio coalition to stay but will use the Kamwene Forum to advance the interests of the Mt Kenya region.

“We are in Azimio to stay but we still have Kamwene forum to caucus about the Mt Kenya region,” said Karua.

The Narc Party leader at the same time downplayed Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s comments that appeared as a formal endorsement of Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka which he later clarified to be misconstructed.

Karua also noted that the ODM leader has a right to endorse anyone he wants but that will not curtail the chances of other interested people.

“It is Raila’s entitlement to endorse anyone never mind that he wrote a statement of clarification. Even if he had endorsed it will be within his right,” Karua stated.

She continued, “The thing to note is that an endorsement does not in any way curtail the chances of any other person who may wish to enter the race. Right now we are not talking about elections we are talking about the unity of Mt Kenya people and Kalonzo Musyoka is our brother.”

Asked about a scenario of Raila backing Kalonzo in 2027, Karua said she will not engage in distractions.
